Ulster Marketing Surveys Goes On The Record

Ulster Marketing Surveys teamed up with BBC's "On the Record" last week to make a programme on Unionist views of the Good Friday Agreement.

The programme aired on Sunday and featured a number of vignettes taken from a focus group recruited and moderated by Ulster Marketing Surveys.

The group itself comprised of Unionists who had voted Yes to the Good Friday Agreement but had since become dissatisfied with the process. There were a number of reasons for this which are summarised as follows :

  1. The process of decommissioning is thought to be non-existent or slow depending on individual viewpoint.
  2. The controversial recent 'amnesty' has evidently exacerbated their anxieties.
  3. There is thought to be strong potential for a breakdown in links with the United Kingdom.
  4. There is a strong view that Unionists continue to make concessions to Nationalists with little recompense.
